So, you wanna install SuperFavs, eh?  Ok, not to worry, that’s what this is for.  SuperFavs is a new stab at an old standard.  Allowing you to pre-select your loadout before you get to the inventory station is the name of the game, and SF (SupeFavs) does it all.  With the features you’ve grown to love and expect plus a whole lot more, I feel confident in assuming that you may just like this.  On to the install instructions….

SuperFavs requires both Presto Pack 0.93 and the latest version of Newopts (ver. 0.966 at the time of writing).  If you don’t have those installed yet, please, go get them and do so now.  I also recommend using winzip to extract and install everything.

Big Bad Install Directions

Ok, got those installed and working properly?  Good.  On to putting in SF…  Extract the contents of the SuperFavs zip file to your “Tribes\Config” folder.  That’s it.  Yes, that was the easy part.  Next comes setting it up.

*Note – If you already have an altered Inventory gui, you need to delete it as SuperFavs comes with it’s own.  If you are a big fan of the transparent inventory screen that came with Cowboy’s CmdHUD script, there is a replacement for you, it is readily available on my website.

Understanding SF

Basically, SF is a glorified favorites script.  It allows you, primarily, to pre-select loadouts BEFORE you get to the inventory station.  This saves boatloads of time for you and your teammates.  It also has some very handy bells and whistles.

 - Auto Dropping

SF allows you to set any item in any amount to be dropped on a per loadout basis.  What does this mean?  Picture this:  You are a turret monkey. When you enter the inventory station, you get in a medium with a turret on your back.  Great.  Well, wouldn’t it be cool if you could automatically dump a mess o’ turrets every time you select that loadout?  Or let’s say, for instance, that you want to drop repair kits/packs with every loadout.  You can do that too.  The nice thing with this feature is that you can define groups of items to drop for each and every loadout.  This gives you supreme flexibility.

- Multi-Mod capable

One of the best features about SF is it’s ability to function with any mod out there  - right out of the “proverbial” box!  No more messing with tables!  None!  Got it?  SF uses no tables of any sort.  It also features a Mod-Linking routine.  This allows you to LINK mod loadouts together.  Here’s an example, there are many mods out there that use the same inventory tables.  For instance, BASE, BWADMIN, and ADMINCON all use the same inventory items.  Instead of defining separate loadouts for each mod, you can link them all to the same definitions file.  This means that when you edit one loadout, it is automatically updated for all the mods linked to it.  Here’s another angle – Say you edit your Sniper Loadout for the BASE mod and you have ADMINCON and BWADMIN linked to it.  All the linked mods will be updated to reflect your loadout change.  This saves you time and hassle.  Tres cool, daddy-o!

-         Scavenger Mode

One of the newer features to be added is the ability to scavenge items off of fallen enemies and only keep the ones contained in your present loadout.  This works wonders for when you are looking for a specific weapon/loadout and your inventory stations are down.

-         Other Stuff…

SuperFavs has quite a few other features, I can only suggest that you explore them all.  Ok, now we get to the actual guts of using this thing…

Setting up your first loadout…

We are going to go step by step in setting up your first loadout… ready?

Step 1: Walk up to an INV.  If this is the first time you enter an INV on a new mod you will get a message like this:

New MOD type detected

No loadout definitions files exist for the “Name of Mod” mod.

Please remember to assign new loadouts for use with SuperFavs or Import an existing loadout file from another mod.

This is basically telling you, “Hey Sucka!  I’ve never been on this mod before, what do I do?”  What can you do?  Well, I’ll tell ya…  You can assign new loadouts for it (jump to step 3), or you can select a mod to link to it (go to step 2).

Step 2: Enter the inventory screen if you aren’t there already.  Click on the SuperFavs LAUNCH button.  You will see a nifty menu appear at the top right.  To link this mod to another, just click the “LINK” button.  This will bring up a pop-up menu with a list of mod loadouts you currently have.  If it’s blank, then you haven’t defined any loadouts, and you shouldn’t be here in the first place. J  Anyhoo, click on the mod name you wish to link to, and select “LINK” at the bottom of the window.  That’s it.  You’re linked.

Step 3: Assigning loadouts. Enter the inventory screen if you aren’t there already.  Click the SF Launch button to bring up the main menu.  At the top of the menu, you’ll see a drop down list box.  Click on it.

Step 4: Select a loadout slot from the 40 available slots there, then click accept.  Say you selected Slot 1…  Slot one is now active in the SF main menu.  From here, select your loadout, and hit the “SAVE” button.  The inventory screen will toggle for a second, then you will get a “Name Loadout “ prompt.  Type in a name, click “ACCEPT”, and you’re done.  Your loadout has been defined and named.  So… What’s all those other buttons for you ask?  On to step 5…

Step 5: Setting a Keybind..  You can easily set keybinds for each loadout so you can access them more quickly.  This is a whole lot faster than selecting them manually as described in Step 4.

Step 6: Making Drop groups.  You may want to drop certain items specific to your loadout.  This is handy for turret monkeys, or for just making sure that repair packs are always available.  To create, edit drop groups, go to the SF main menu and locate the “DROP LIST” section.  Click the “REDIFINE” button.  Now, you can click ONCE on any item in your inventory list and then click the “ADD” button.  This will add whatever item you had selected to your drop group.  If you screw up, or want to reset it, click the “CLEAR” button, and your drop group for the current loadout will be erased.

Step 7: Setting a loadout to be the DEFAULT loadout.  Simple.  Just click the “Make Default” check box for any loadout you wish to use upon connection to a server.  This ensures that you always buy SOMETHING. J  Note that this can be a separate loadout slot for each mod you have loadouts defined for.

Using scavenger mode…

Got your loadouts set up and ready to run?  Great!  Now let’s explore Scavenger Mode…

Step1: Understanding what Scavenger mode does…  Scavenger mode is an interesting concept.  In the purest sense, it tosses any items you pick up that aren’t contained in your currently selected loadout.  This is great for getting the items you want without fiddling around dropping weapons you don’t want manually.  Scavenger mode also can Auto-Toss items you are currently holding that don’t match your loadout to make room for the ones that do.  This is not COMPLETELY automatic however ( and nor will it ever be ). I am a firm believer in giving you the most control over your scripts.  Some things should not be fully automatic – they can screw you royally sometimes.  Scavenger Mode ONLY TOSSES CURRENT WEAPONS WHEN YOU TELL IT TO.  Let’s say you spawn, and you’ve got your blaster.  You MAY need that blaster.  If the script tosses it without your say so, you’re outta luck.  That’s why it’s a manual setup.  It cycles and tosses when you tell it to.  Knowing this, I’m sure you’ll come to appreciate it.

Step 2: Setting up your preferences up properly in the SuperFavs Newopts page.  If you haven’t done so already, go to the SuperFavs Newopts page and check out the scavenger mode features.  An important one to note is the PACK tossing options.  Scavenger mode will toss any pack that doesn’t match your loadout if you let it.  At first, this seems like a dandy idea, however, what if you’re trying to pick up that repair pack on Rollercoaster to fix your solar panels.  If you are set to toss packs, I wish you good luck on picking up and keeping that pack.  If you don’t understand, you soon will. :o)

Other tidbits…

SuperFavs has quite a few minor options you can set through the SuperFavs Newopts page.  Feel free to explore them and see what they do.  I hope that this script proves worthy enough to be a part of your setup as it was an enjoyable thing to create.

PACKBUY – This is an add-on script that is included with SuperFavs.  It allows you to append packs to any loadout you have currently defined.  It also offers some other nifty features that some may want to take advantage of, like a loadout clearing feature or auto – vehicle buying.

ALTERNATE GUI – SuperFavs is packaged with a CmdHUD style inventory screen.  If you do not like it and wish to keep your old style black background inventory screen, there is an alternate one available for download on my webby.

My thanks…

I would like to thank all those who tested this script for me.  Your input has been truly appreciated and invaluable.  Gaddy, I want to thank you especially – You remained a vigilant tester for this script.  I want you to know that SF probably wouldn’t be as kickass if your input were not there.  My biggest thanks goes to Cowboy.  What can I say man?  You’re art has made this script a very appealing piece of work.  Your ideas have pushed SF well over the top.  It has grown to be so much more than I intended.  Your poking and prodding (*smirk*) me to keep at it has made all the difference.  You’re a good friend of mine, and it’s not just because of your creamy, dreamy thighs.

Ok, I think I’m done with all this sensitive caca, If someone enjoys this script 1/10 as much as I enjoyed making it, I can call this a major success.  I tried to make this script as flexible and feature rich as possible for everyone out there.  With Tribes2 just around the corner, I feel that this may be my last “Prolific” work.  Enjoy… and I’ll see you for T2.
